Slow Along the Stratford

Leafy, autumnal Lapworth
Turning Left
Turning left onto the Grand Union

A lazy morning after the last 2 full days. Still a lot of distance needed to be travelled and the days were skipping by. A tense moment when the engine took some starting, but the batteries held out and all was well. A slow and tedious trip along the shallow Stratford, we got stuck on the bottom when passing boats. After what seemed like ages, we finally had a lift bridge to operate,an electric one too. We then carried on our snails pace until we were at the top of the Lapwoth flight. Very pleasant to work through and we whiled away the afternoon down the flight. We passed 2 boats on their way up and enjoyed the usual chit chat. Once at Kingswood junction, we had to accept that we just did not have enough time to head along towards Braunceton and the Oxford & Coventry canals. So it was a left turn instead and heading to Birmingham after all. Moored the night on the Grand Union.
